Saving Private Ryan

The heavy rumble of tanks was getting nearer and nearer, the air was hot and sticky, we had no where to go and knew this would be our last stand.

I was part of Bravo Platoon who had been ordered to find and escort Private Ryan to safety. Our Platoon had already suffered a number of casualties and we only had 16 able bodied combatants. The plan was to pass through this village and come across our own advancing frontline but we got as far as the bridge and realised we were caught from both sides. There was no time to blow the bridge behind us and could only wait for the ever advancing onslaught. We had already tried to radio for air support but didn’t know if this would arrive in time.

Suddenly all hell broke loose, they started to throw everything at us.

Operation Cold Comfort

Our Platoon had just consolidated a break through the Siegfried Line ready for the next push north towards the Ardennes when I was summoned for a briefing with my CO. His voice always had a serious edge to it but this morning he was definitely jumpy.

Your next mission Sergeant is to locate this secure fortress deep in enemy territory they call “Colditz”. Apparently one of our agents has been captured and has vital information about the enemy’s plans for a major re-offensive which could put back the allied advance several months.

We don’t know if this chap is dead or alive. Your job is to bring him back at any cost. I suggest Sergeant you ask for volunteers!!!
